In Dr. Morwood's Words:

I have so many patients in my practice that are delighted with their new and improved silhouette. They are so very pleased with their more youthful breast volume and shape after surgery.

This Procedure Treats:

  • Small or underdeveloped breasts disproportionate to body frame
  • Loss of breast volume following pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss
  • Breast asymmetry in size or shape between the two sides
  • Lack of upper pole fullness and breast projection
  • Deflated appearance and diminished breast contour

Enhance Breast Size, Shape, and Projection

Breast augmentation is a plastic surgery procedure that makes your breasts bigger, fuller, rounder, and slightly higher. This operation is most commonly performed using saline or silicone implants, or in selected cases, fat grafting. You may choose augmentation to improve breast size, restore volume after pregnancy or weight loss, or enhance overall breast shape and proportion. Dr. Morwood evaluates your anatomy, soft tissues, and goals to determine the most appropriate method for achieving balanced results.

Breast Augmentation Treats:

  • Small or underdeveloped breasts (hypomastia)
  • Loss of breast volume after pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Decreased fullness related to aging or weight loss
  • Breast asymmetry in size, shape, or position
  • Constricted or narrow breast shape
  • Lack of upper pole fullness or projection
  • Desire for a fuller, rounder, more balanced silhouette

Types of Breast Augmentation Offered by Dr. Morwood

Saline Implants

Saline implants are composed of a silicone shell that is inserted empty and then filled with sterile saltwater once positioned within the breast pocket. This allows for smaller incisions and intraoperative adjustments in volume. These implants reliably create breasts that are bigger and fuller, although they may feel firmer and can be more palpable in thinner patients.

Silicone Implants

Silicone implants are prefilled with a cohesive silicone gel and inserted into a surgically created pocket within the breast. Because silicone implants arrive prefilled, a slightly larger incision is usually required. Silicone implants generally feel more like natural breast tissue and may provide a gentler upper pole slope, resulting in a softer, more natural-appearing contour.

Breast Fat Grafting

Breast fat grafting involves harvesting fat from another area of your body, such as the abdomen or thighs, using a modified liposuction technique. The fat is processed and carefully re-injected into the breast using microdroplet techniques. This method enhances breast volume using your own tissue, creating a natural look and feel, though results can be less predictable.

What to Expect From Breast Augmentation With Dr. Morwood

During your consultation, Dr. Morwood begins by reviewing your medical history and then asks you to describe your concerns while looking in a mirror. He may mimic potential changes with his hands to better understand your goals. You may be asked to bring pictures of breasts you like, try on implant sizers, and review before-and-after images. Dr. Morwood takes detailed measurements, including the sternal notch-to-nipple distance, breast width, and soft-tissue thickness, and may use Vectra 3D imaging to simulate outcomes.

During surgery, a carefully planned incision, most commonly in the inframammary fold, is used to access the breast. A precise pocket is created either above or below the pectoralis muscle, based on your anatomy and soft tissue coverage. The implant is then inserted and positioned to optimize projection and symmetry, or fat is injected in microdroplets. Meticulous attention is paid to preserving blood supply, minimizing trauma, and achieving a balanced, natural contour.

Breast Augmentation FAQs

How Long Does Breast Augmentation Surgery Take?

In general, breast augmentation is a relatively simple operation. If your implants are placed above the pectoralis muscle, the procedure typically takes 45 to 75 minutes. Placement under the muscle may add about 30 minutes to the procedure. If fat grafting is performed, additional time is required for liposuction, processing, and careful re-injection of the fat.

What is the Recovery Process Like After Surgery?

You can expect to rest at home for the first three days and nights, avoiding strenuous activity while keeping your head elevated to minimize swelling. By day four, you may gradually increase activity, while still avoiding elevated blood pressure. Around day eleven, you can return to most normal routines, although chest exercises should be avoided for several weeks.

How Do You Choose the Right Implant Size?

Choosing your implant size is a personal decision guided by your goals and anatomy. Dr. Morwood uses the biodimensional approach to determine a range of implant sizes that fit your body. Measurements such as breast width, soft-tissue thickness, and nipple position are considered, along with your height, weight, and proportions, to develop a custom plan.

Can Cup Size Be Predicted After Surgery?

No, cup size cannot be predicted with precision. There is no universal standard among bra manufacturers, and sizing varies widely. While rough estimates may be discussed during your consultation, the final implants are selected based on volume in cubic centimeters (CCs), not cup size. This is important to understand before undergoing breast augmentation.

Will Breast Implants Feel Natural?

Breast implants can feel very natural, particularly silicone implants, which tend to mimic the consistency of breast tissue. However, you will be able to feel your implants, especially during self-breast exams. In thinner patients or those with minimal soft tissue coverage, implants may be more palpable or visible, depending on size and placement.

Do Breast Implants Need to Be Replaced Over Time?

Breast implants are not lifetime devices. While some women have implants that last for decades without issue, others may experience leakage or other complications earlier. Regular follow-up, self-exams, and appropriate imaging are important. Implant exchange is not required on a fixed schedule but may be recommended if problems arise.

Client Testimonials

Lola K.

I contacted Dr. Morwood earlier this year after one of my clients referred me to him. He performed a breast augmentation on me about five months ago and the results were great. My breasts are perfect for my figure, they don’t look too large and they’re symmetrical. I’m surprised that he has any reviews that are less than five stars. I found him to be personable and professional. I was extremely nervous the day of my surgery, but everything went smoothly, he even called that night to check on how I was doing. I would highly recommend him and his staff was helpful as well.”
